At the University of Jyväskylä, our Music Education programme delves into the goals, content, and methods of music teaching. Our comprehensive curriculum equips students with the skills, knowledge, and pedagogical expertise needed to excel as music educators in primary and secondary schools, as well as other educational institutions. The programmes are taught only in Finnish.
Music education programme
Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees: Start with foundational studies and progress to advanced research and pedagogical training to become a school music teacher in comprehensive education and upper secondary school.

Classroom teacher and Music teacher
It is possible to study in a comprehensive Bachelor’s and Master’s program in Primary Education and Music Education, designed to develop versatile experts in education and music pedagogy. This 5-year program (3 years for a Bachelor’s degree and 2 years for a Master’s degree) awards degrees in either Educational Sciences or Humanities and Philosophy.
